Mount Harriet – National Park from the Ancient Times

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

The ancient National Park located on the highest peak of the Andaman and Nicobar i.e. Saddle Peak in the Andamans. The Island named after British soldier Robert Christopher Tyler’s wife Harriet. The island stands completely under the supervision of the Andaman Forest Department. And hence is explicitly regulated, disciplined and well formed. Being at this height is in itself an undefined experience where all places from this location seem to be a miniature picturesque of the whole of the archipelago, be it the Capital city or the other island groups.

Flora and Fauna

The national park is an habitation site of many species of animals and birds which are either endemic to the region or in danger of turning vulnerable. To name a few, Andaman wild pig, saltwater crocodiles, turtles, robber crabs and many more. Mount Harriet will again thrill your mind with its butterfly hotspot. The beauty lies in these small intricately designed creatures which fill up the island and it’s forests. Among the flying beasts also lie the birds, where tourists can enjoy Bird watching with their binoculars. Let me add to your fauna list about the reptiles, even they are present to add to the species diversity of the Andaman.

Madhuban Beach

Mount Harriet refuse stay back on any field. Hence it even holds a delightful beach named Madhuban. The beach is again a combination of its turquoise aqua pura and the lavish dense forests. The Mangroves also stand for you to have an adventurous trek through them exploring the flora and fauna in the most natural manner. Hence HURRY!!!
